    MP1 Magazine Pouches

I saw these magazine pouches for MP1 (Beretta M38) on internet from a German dealer (he will not ship outside EU, so I can not buy them to inspect closer). But I wonder, what organisation would use this colour? One of the Landespolizei Bereitschaften? I find BGS unlikely. I am not sure, if they used dark green canvas in first couple years of existence or not, but these look newer.

I have a pair of dark green MP1 pouches from Germany, that I thought were BGS, but marked for Rheinland-Pfalz Gendarmerie ("Gendarmerie-Kommando Betzdorf"). I would not think that Gendarmerie would have these, but instead Bepo? Will post my pair later. MP1 pouches look like MPL/MP5 pouches, but larger and back complete different, more like MP40 pouches with slanted belt loops. They seem to be rare, less common than later MPL/MP5 pouches.

There was a seller in the US that had a lot of these several years ago. I bought a pair and they are in blue-green color favored by Polizei Einsatzanzug in the 1960s. They are like smaller MP-40 pouches with slanted belt loops. The black leather also has the indented lines around the edges, which is something I associate with Polizei. But there are no markings and so I don't know who used this set.

I will see if I can find them and post some pictures.

    Cheers,

    Steve

      Steve,
here is colour photo of pouch like mine (same colour) in use by BGS in late 1950s or early 60s. You see only rarely both pouches, normally only right one. My pair is darker green and less blue than normal Polizei cloth articles. It is possible that manufacturer made these for more than one organisation (like leather G1 pouches) and only difference is stamps. From BGS13-coburg1959.de.

        MP Pouches

        Hi Gents,

these pouches also existed in two variants; I have them with
and without D-Rings for the Y-Strap. Another miracle .....

        Best regards

Here is my pair of pouches. They are type with d-ring. They look exactly like in photo above. On several leather tabs undersides, is stamp "Gendarmerie-Kommando Betzdorf/5/60", so numbers are probably manufacture date? These type pouches were used only until early-mid 1960s at latest, before smaller magazine pouches with different loop system for MPL introduced. Still not sure, why Rheinland-Pfalz Gendarmerie would have these?
