Odd BGS Sumpftarn jacket

I just received this strange one. Obviously the BW badge shouldn't be there, so I'll remove that soon enough! The thing to look at is next to the lower left pocket. It's a tab of some sort. What do you guys think it was intended for? This is the first modification I've seen on a BGS jacket.



Also, here's a good chance to see the two primary variations of BGS 3rd Model cloth. One has a more green tint, the other a more tan tint:

Now that is an interesting modification. I cann't think of any good use for it though.

I can't imagine anything heavy being strapped there and allowed to bounce around in that area. Perhaps it's for securing a pair of gloves? Many civilian ski jackets used to have a loop in that same spot for this very purpose.
