Please can any one advice me on any good reference books on bunds military insignia including cloth badges ? many thanks

Kai Robien edited a softcover booklet containing colored pics of all cloth insignia for the Dienstanzug (class A uniform) and many background informations: "Verbandsabzeichen der Bundeswehr 1957-2010". It's sometimes available on ebay.
A comprehensive book dealing with the history of Bw uniforms and all kinds of Bw insignia was written by Walter Kunstwadl: "Von der Affenjacke zum Tropentarnanzug".

Michael,

I second Lars comments about Kunstwadl's book. Of the two large BW reference books listed in the thread he pointed you to, this is the best of the two. Schuster's book concentrates on the Heer so doesn't really cover all of the BW.
Kunstwadl's book may still be available from Zinfiguren in Berlin.
