    "New" Luftwaffe Beret Badge?

    Gents,

I came across this beret badge on eBay last night and don't recall seeing one before.

The seller referred to it as a Luftwaffe beret badge but didn't elaborate any further.

Does anyone have a picture of this badge being worn on a beret? What are the duties of those who wear this badge?

    Thanks,
    TJ

It has been around for years, Lw Objektschutz (Property Protection) or if you prefer Ground Security. Worn on a blue beret.

I like the dark blue beret much more than the red one. Fits better to a camo uniform, than "Hochrot" does IMHO.

BTW you can find these dark blue berets (first of all worn by Marine Landsicherungspersonal) with all beret insignia available in the Army since they were adopted by the 3 Offizieranwärterbataillone in 2006.
Instructors and officer candidates wear their service branch beret insignia and their "Waffenfarbe" but they all wear the dark blue beret and a common patch/pocket badge.
Today 3 Offizieranwärterbataillone do exist in Munster, Hammelburg and Idar-Oberstein. These were attached to the Army Schools there.

The Offizieranwärterbataillon members should all wear a Navy Blue beret which is a different colour and stock number to the Blue beret worn by members of the Lw Objektschutz. I have the badge entering service in June 2006, but I think it was under a different name then.

I know it as Luftwaffensicherung with I think 16 Squadrons in the Objektsicherungsregiment.

Maybe to add, that it is a special AF Blue, very similar to the RAF Blue.

And goes a funny purple colour when worn in the sun and washed every now and then.

That was the name I was looking for 'Luftwaffensicherung', but, I was told that it had changed for everyone to 'Objektschutz'. Maybe you could check for us all Nico.

                    Gentlemen,

This indeed is the Luftwaffensicherung barret badge which, as Marc says, has been around for years. Their name was changed to Objektschutz, as said previously, but I do not remember exactly when. Kunstwadl, in his book, confirms what Proud Kruat has said in his post but says that the beret that was worn was the same one that was worn in the the Wachbataillon by members of the Luftwaffe.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon
