BW Jacke???

Hello friends,

I need a little expert help. Is the pictured jacket actually West German? This is the only picture I have.

It is marked "1957 - M.V.O. - Blijvend Motecht - Mitin."

Pretty sure it's Dutch, not German.

I'm pretty sure that's Belgian, not Dutch. Dutch tended to fashion their kit on US uniforms, Belgians after British. Blijvend Motecht is a contractor that made things for the Belgian Army, but it's quite possible they made things for the Dutch too. I'm certainly not an expert on these uniforms, other than to say it's definitely not BW.

I would tend to say Dutch ... as M.V.O. should be translated as "ministerie voor oorlog" (ministry of war). I don´t think the Belgians with their two main languages would have had stuff only labeled in Flaams without any French words in it ...

@Steve "Blijvend Motecht" will be not a contractor but a label referring to the specification of the fabric used for the garment. It means "permanent mothresistant", simila lables can be found on wools scarfs etc ...

actually it is dutch

the dutch and belgians used british battledress patterns after the war well into the 60's i have one of each.

Heh... I need more sleep Of course it is Dutch. Not only is the tag of a type that the Dutch like to use, but it is very unlike Belgian tags. And then there is the obvious missing ABL mark. You know, as a guy who has close to 40 Belgian uniforms you'd think even posting while sleep deprived wouldn't produce such a brain fart
