    identification request on 1957 Koblenz trousers

    for me an unidentified black wool trousers,cotton lining with markings.
    for you perhaps easy to identify.
    I've tried to read the markings ;
    GH geprüft
    Br G St koblenz.
    my guess was early feuerwehr,however I can't relate those markings to that.
    any information would be welcome.

      kees,

      More mysteries! I have never seen markings like this before. Early pants though as they are dated 1957. I'll have to have a look at whatever I have in mycollection about BRD Feuerwehr and see if there is anything like this.

      Regards,

        Feuerwehr is a good guess. We don't know much about 1940s and 1950s items except for BW and BGS. I've not been able to get identification of a Polizei uniform from 1956 that is obviously a Polizei uniform

          ok thanks guys,I 'm really hoping somebody will recognise the markings and abbreviations.
          it really is just another black wool trousers and these markings are it's only clue.
          all the best,

            BW pants

            they might be early BW as the pants were dark grey

              This looks a little too dark to be BW. Plus, the stamps are not consistent with BW markings for that time and private purchase would not have ink stamps. As far as I know the early BW trousers were more on the gray side and had a little covered pocket just below the belt on the right side of the fly. I'm pretty sure they didn't have metal buckle adjustments for the waist either.

              Besides FW, which I still think is a good guess, there is also Hamburg Polizei. They used a black uniform throughout the 1960s and early 1970s. Many Polizei forces changed their uniforms around 1960-1963 from earlier designs, so that opens up some possibilities I think.
