    Bundeswehr smock or?

I belive this is a Bundeswehr item, but I would like to heаr opinions of the experts, before start using it in reanacting activities My suspicion were reised only by the low contrast ot the colours and bad qolity of the stamp...

    pereto - Nice looking smock!

To my knowledge, neither the Bundeswehr ("West German Army") nor the Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS / Federal Border Guard) used a smock with a lace up front.

The camouflage pattern is not quite right either for the post-war.

My guess is that your smock is a reproduction Wehrmacht model and thus fine for World War Two re-enacting but not for post-war re-enacting.

Seen below is a circa 1975 BGS smock in BGS sumpfmuster. Note the button down front and distinct camouflage pattern.

Please check with your re-enacting unit Commander or Sergeant Major about what unifoms are authorized for wear by the unit before you spend any money! They can also help you with where to buy the right kit for the unit.

Thanks for showing the smock and good luck re-enacting.

    All the best - TJ

pereto - Here is a picture showing the Bundeswehr splittertarn battle dress worn between 1956 and roughly 1962.

As you can see, it is a very different pattern from your smock which is closer to the wartime pattern.

Absolutely not Bundeswehr or Bundesgrenzschutz or any else connected to BRD (West Germany). It is a WW2 reproduction item. I'm not an expert on telling the difference between real items and fakes, but anything brand new looking is 99.99% probable reproduction. Especially with plastic buttons on the cuffs.

Мuch obliged to all for quick answers!
If all of you are certain in that opinion, It has to be the case!
I must say I'm surprized. I expected the smock to be bundeswehr. becouse I've understend they have 2 models smocks in tan and water camo between 1952-1970, but have not seen them anywhere on picture.
The strange think is that I find it in local second hand shop and bought cheep ( less then 10 $) and it was placed along with worn french uniforms and working clothes from diferent kind. At the same place from some time on, I'm finding european items from ww2 and after -early bundeswehr and so on.
But obviouslly here this is not the case.
IT is posible somebody to dislike for some reasons his reanacting smock and to trow it. And in unforeseen way this garmet to came to me
Any way I like it and may use it in reanacting late WW2 period if I have a chance.

                  Pereto,

For less than $10 you can't go wrong, no matter what it is These are available brand new for about $60 IIRC.

The BGS experimented with a smock in 1957, though they probably were worn a little later than that. They come up for sale on eBay a couple times a year and sell for multiple hundred EURs, depending on how crazy the top two bidders are.

Pictures of BGS camouflage items, and fakes, can be found here:
