My 2 new Bundeswehr pieces

Hi!

After 2 horrible months I am back into my hobby.

I would like to show my 2 new items.







First one is a interesting jacket made in 1969. Cut and pockets are like the tank overalls, but this is a jacket only. The flags are removed, the ghosts are clearly visible. There are loops like the early wool and moleskin jackets to tie the trousers onto it. I haven´t seen a picture of it in use yet. Size is 186/100.

The next item:







I think it is an early type of the "große Kampftasche". Size is the same. But again, I have no pics of it in use.

Welcome back!! I am sorry you had two bad months, but what a wonderful way to celebrate your return! That jacket is *amazing*!!

1969 was a year of experimentation for the Feldanzug. The 3rd Model was introduced either that year or 1970. It also is a time when they were changing the Dienstanzug. Therefore, it is a perfect time for experimenting with other items. My guess is you have an experimental item, obviously produced in such small numbers that neither Schuster or Kunstwadl found evidence of it.

But is this for armored crews or air crews? As you know the two coveralls have always been quite similar. One feature that usually means air crew is the arm pocket on the left sleeve. This is a very common feature for air crew jackets, not armored crew coveralls.

Whatever this is, I am deeply impressed!

I have shown the jacket to an former heli pilot, but he means that their jacket in the 70´s were made from other, thicker fabric. This one is very thin. But mabe it could be a "summer" jacket?

Pilots jacket wold be nice, I got an old heli- helmet from my friend.

I know that they tried to copy US Stuff for the BW, so maybe it's something after the Summer Nomex Jacket, the US Army used.
Can't read the NSN correctly, maybe you can post it for a Check in the Army files.

Yes, standard US Army air crew uniforms (for helicopters, mostly) is 2 pieces. It has been like this since at least early 1960s. I have photographs of many different types from 1960s through today.

The Vietnam type was called OG-106 and it was made of "100% Heat Resistant Nylon". It is thin and lightweight. There are two flapped chest pockets, a zippered arm pocket on left arm, and 3/4 zipper front.

Frank's jacket is similar in basic design, but different in details. I think the BW jacket was influenced by the US type.

Does anybody know what BW helicopter crews (specifically!) wore in the early 1960s? One piece suits?
