    5 color Flecktarn shirt questions

I've seen a number of service shirts made by different companies (I think!) in 1992 that are in 5 color Flecktarn. They have Q numbers, however I am not sure if they were genuine issue, experimental, or private purchase. Anybody know for sure?

I also received this oddball Mil-Tec 5 color Flecktarn shirt:

It appears to be made out of the same cloth as the winter coat, not the same cloth as the standard issue field shirt. It also has a Q number and the manufacture date is 2003.

During the 1990s and early 2000s the US Army allowed soldiers to private purchase uniforms made from different combinations of cotton and polyester. These uniforms were made by various private companies without military contracts. I am wondering if Mil-Tec made this jacket for similar reasons? Does anybody know anything about this?

    Thanks!

Especially Miltec/Sturm offers stuff with the description "dienstfähig" (= conform to the regulations so wearable on duty without getting in troubles). But normaly items of this kind should not have a "Q-number". Most of thes items have a label reading "entspricht TL xy" (conform to technical description #xyz). As the "Q" number is a contract number of the BWB this indicates that it is (or at least should be recognized as) an officially purchased item. As Sturm definetely is an official supplier of the Bundeswehr this can be real...

      He is?
Miltec has a bad reputation in the Bundeswehr and I know of Unit's what forbid Members to use the Stuff.

Yes, he is ... at the moment I do not find the link but there are real issued items produced by Sturm... but it´s no real wonder as especially since the start of LHBw as the price is 90% of the decission where to buy things. And all companies will swear that their stuff is conforming the TL ...

"Normal" Miltec (or "Mülltec" (could be translated "Garbage tec")) or other commercial stuff not made according to the TL must be banned from use as its nothing more then civil stuff under the eye of the regulations - in theorie - as it is as suitable as a bluejeans even if it looks like a military garment....

It would be interesting to see a lawyers thoughts on civil purchased TL conforming stuff in case of injury if official side claims that this would not happened with issued stuff...

            Interesting!

Well, the Q number and the date (2003) are consistent because LHBw didn't start until 2004. Correct?

The interesting thing is the thick cloth. It is 65/35 Baumwolle/PES. Definitely not the standard cloth.
