    Please help with cockade ID...

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to figure out what this cockade is. I think it's something West German, perhaps early post-war?

    Any ideas???

You are right, postwar Germany. Not my focus of collection but I think it's a custom service Kokarde (obsolete design).

Post-war, probably 1960s or early 1970s. It's used by Customs (Zoll). I don't know if others used it as well.

Didn't Customs have the Bulls Eye. I would say it's a BW Brandschutz for the Peaked Cap.

              Nico,

You're correct the very old type had the bullseye. No doubt about that. However, I think that changed sometime in the 1960s.

A quick check on the Internet show some German sellers calling it "Zoll" and others "Brandschutz". I doubt it is both! I did not see a picture that offered proof either way.

Whatever it is, we know for 100% certainty that it is post war BRD.

Definitely Zoll (Customs). The bullseye/cockade was worn above it.

                  Gentlemen,

BW Brandschutz did wear a cap wreath like the one pictured. So did the Zoll. I would class it as a generic civilian service cap wreath rather than try to assign it to a specific service once it has been removed from the cap.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

                    Well, that would explain it

                    Thanks!
