heh... good for you! Always nice to see something like this "staying within the family", so to speak. I don't think you overpaid. I just wasn't able to go that high because I've been hitting a streak of rare stuff (non-BW) lately and money is going out too quickly by my judgement. My wife, of course, has a different standard that I break nearly every day

Collectinsteve...heres one for you and other interested parties, I have just obtained another "Casinojacke" this time a Luftwaffe Hauptmanns, later style after 1970, as it has no cuffs, loose or otherwise, and the buttons are bright silver...and the wording on the wash label slightly different...other wise the same as the older one I have, except....this one has clearly had removable collar patches attached via 4 small press stud fittings, the outlines back and front clearly visible, and a clear stiched outline of an armshield ! the previous owner has also attached a long ribbon bar, unfortunatly straight through the material ! I have taken photographs but am unable to post...however here is the e-bay link... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3505089861...#ht_4161wt_932
This guy certainly flouted regulations.....speedytop it seems some Officers did not adhere to the rules ! were they not rigidly enforced ?

Dress regulations ? Did anybody ever hear a word as "dress regulation" ???

Looking at the seems / the end of the sleeves it may be possible that this jacket was changed after the new stile without french cuffs was invented in 1970 .... if there was no change: As this garment was only available as private purchase the tailors altered the cut at this time...

            Irideacorgi,

The tunics of this type which have been posted to this thread clearly indicate that regulations were not followed for these private purchse pieces. Press studs are not that common for the attachment of collar tabs in the BW. They were more commonly used in the Wehrmacht. It makes a lot of sense to use this type of removable collar tabs. It's too bad someone removed the insignia from this tunic. It would be really nice to have it as it originally existed.

            Regards,

            Gordon

                    Irideacorgi,

I don't normally like to advise people to add insignia to tunics. However, in this case I beleive that you have enough evidence of removed insignia to restore the tunic. Snap on fasteners are easy to get and sew onto the tunic collar and collar tabs. The shoulder boards appear to be slip-ons so that should make it easy to replace them. Not quite sure what to say about the ribbon bar.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon
