    shako question

Hello, I have a question about Shako, there a way to differentiate a shake of the Weimar Republic a shako of the years after the war. I have one I think is the 60 of a state in northern Germany (Schleswig-Holstein).
Anyone know how you can differentiate a shake of the Weimar Republic of post-war shako?

    Thanks in advance

There are quite a few ways to tell the difference. First, Weimar Tschakos should not have any plastic in the construction. Second, many postwar Tschakos will have two parade lugs (with a loop) instead of one holding the chinstrap. Third, the cockades are entirely different with the postwar insignia all distinctly different from the pre-war or wartime.

These are three instant tells of the differences. I hope this is helpful.

      Shupo, Thanks for your information.

It would be interesting to get a picture of a shako of the Weimar Republic.

Do a search for "Tschako" in the police section of the forum and you should find photos of several that will help show the difference.
