    BW Mütze Abzeichen

    *S*

    Hello everyone,

Back on the forum BRD, I miss you

I need some help with insignia caps or rather about the timing of the use of its insignia.

Here is a picture showing 3 badges.

Could you tell me when, roughly, these badges were worn on hats BW?

I even believe that some have no caps and badges are just a badge.

    Thank you.

Looks like the Bundesheer pre-beret badge from the Military Police visor cap. One of our German or more experienced collector bretheren could clear it up. But heres the picture that I first seen the insignia in.

As for time used... that's not necessarily easy to be specific about because there might be subtle construction differences between older and newer manufacturing. I know not

The officer's badge was worn late 1950s through 1970s on the Schirmmütze (or whenever this type of hat was discontinued).

The crossed swords were worn on the 1950s-1960s mountain cap worn by all ranks. Later the mountain cap was restricted to mountain troops. It is still worn today for formal events, I think.

The metal Schirmmütze badge was worn for enlisted ranks from 1950s through 1970s. My guess is this particular badge is 1960s-1970s, not the earlier "altgeld" colored type worn in the 1950s through 1963.

ok guys thank you for your answers.

In fact we have, with theses 3 items, differencies with :
          - period
          - rank
          - and corps

I think it could interresting to work on making a list (with pics) made to each corps. (Heer, Marine, etc) in a chronological order.

do you know if we have a such tpoic in BRD forum ?

            Hi Kreitzer,

these are common pieces, they could have been worn by many thousand soldiers in the German Army (Heer).

              Kreitzer,

              The period is explained above.
              Rank is also explained above.
These cap badges were only worn by the Heer. So there is still the Luftwaffe and the Marine to go. There is a thread that I have running on the Marine which should include cap badges. There are many threads on the forum that show pictures of the cap badges of the Luftwaffe. Just do a search and you will find some. I don't think it is worthwhile to do a thread on cap badges alone for the Heer, Marine and Luftwaffe. It would be more useful to do one showing teh different type/style of hat with the correct cap badge on it. I have thought of starting a thread like this but don't have the amount of time availabel at the moment.

              Regards,

              Gordon
