    Hi Uwe,

AH!! I see! The early Portepee ranks only had braid on 3 sides? But Page 115 is confusing to me. It shows ranks with braid on 3 sides and ranks with braid on all sides, but the are all "bis 1963". Unfortunately I have difficulty reading German, so maybe you can help clarify this?

      Steve,

"Unfortunately I have difficulty reading German"

You must have the same problem with my English, because it is a German English?

      Please see Post 11:
"Error in the book from Kunstwadl:
On page 115 for both pictures is written "bis 1963" (till 1963). You can compare the OFw and the HFw.
In the the lower picture you see the old senior NCO shoulder boards (peaked, not rounded) worn with the old flat metal badges."

I think, that these shoulder boards were "mitbefördert" (appr. cocarried).
The fourth braid had been added, and the old flat metal badges were worn longer.
      That was not unusual.
You can find the same behavior for the old large officers pips after 1963.

        Hi Uwe,

Heh... no, the problem is the order of my understanding. When I read your first post about the error in Kunstwadl I did not understand the significance. Now I do! Alles Klar Thanks for helping me understand.
