    Old BW uniforms

Hi yall. Im new to the forum posting wise, but ive been following these boards for quite sometime now.

I was wondering where i could find a vendor for the old bundeswehr jackets from before the four pocket jacket design currently in use today.

Ive just started collecting militaria and mainly focused on british/ east german but as i find myself possibly going for a career in the bundeswehr in the near future my interest in the western army has peaked enough to start collecting and reading up on things about it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.....

P.S why is it when i log in, everytime i read a topic the order of the posts are back to front???

    kleppang,

We answered this question a few weeks ago by another person who posted it. I don't know of any dealers that we could point at who specifically sell older pre 1962 uniforms. Most of us buy our stuff from ebay.de. Periodically we sell to each other. The earlier uniforms are more in demand and therefor are priced higher. Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search.

    Regards,

    Gordon

      Welcome!

To answer your forum question... go to your "User CP link" (up top) and change the setting. Here's a shortcut that I think will work:

      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...do=editoptions

The setting you're looking for is under "Thread Display Options"

          Gordon,

You answered the more important one spot on so it was the least I could do

Kleppang - I too would like to extend a welcome and wish you the all the best as you contemplate a military career.

Joining up is never a decision to be taken lightly, which is doubly true in this day and age. Good luck and happy collecting.

              Hello Klee!

              Michael

              Hey Klee!

              Welcome to the forum!

I personal dont know any dealer specialiced in early Bundeswehr. Also surplus-shops didnt have early items any longer. A few years ago you could order Filzläuse en masse - but even these items are getting rare.

That means: Search on or trade/buy from forum-members

              regards
              Michael

Thank you everyone for the help sofar. I just bagged my first BW item a '1956 Heer Feldmütze'.

I'm very new to the Bundeswehr collection scene so forgive my lack of knowledge on this army as im still learning about it.

I believe the one of the tunic types im after is called an 'Affenjacke'? how much are these normally priced at? (minus and plus the rest of the uniform)

(when possible i find it good to keep a small cash reserve stashed away for items of interest for when they hopefully appear on the market hence why i ask)

                Cheers

Affenjacke generally go for EUR 120 to EUR 250, depending on what it is (condition, rank, etc.). Issued at the same time is a Zweitasche (2 pocket) jacket that was worn by officers and career NCOs. These are a little less expensive because for some reason they are more common. Anywhere in the EUR 100-200 range depending on factors.

Trousers for either... get in line and have your credit card ready

                    Kleppang,

No need to appologize for a lack of knowledge on BW uniforms etc. We all had to learn at sometime and now it is our turn to help someone else.
Affenjacke buying can be a little tricky. They were worn over a much longer period than most collectors think they were. Hence, they have been upgraded to keep up with the new regulations. IE collar braiding added, collar tabs added etc. It is virtually impossible to find one that is still in its original issue condition. The last one I bought had clear signs of the removal of collar insignia etc.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon
