Post your favourite BW photo/s right away. It doesn't matter when or where it was taken. Nor does it matter if its a private photo from your service.

Phil - It would be pretty hard to top the outstanding photos of Bundeswehr Soldiers serving in Operation Enduring Freedom that you have so generously shared with the BDR Forum.

Thanks for those photos and thanks for starting this thread.

My favorite from my personal collection is this 1960s era press release depicting a grizzled veteran and a "young hare".

The older officer, he could be the young man's father, has the confidence and deportment one would expect of a panzer officer, yet you can see a weariness in his eyes.

The young man's look of determination could also be seen as a suppressed smirk. His jaunty ascot gives him the look of a dandy; he wants to be like the older man, but there is no substitute for experience. It will be many a year on maneuvers and the firing line before the youngster will look like a true veteran.

In short, this photo represents for me a passing of the torch from the wartime generation to the untested youngsters.

From what I can see on Phil's Afghanistan thread, the young men have passed the test.
