    The Largest Size in BW Uniforms?

    I was going thru a pile of surplus at a show today and found a MINT pair of moleskin pants in size 182 / 120! They are dated 7-67 and have the size label of 24.

    Well after finding no matching shirt, or jacket, (if you have any this size let me know please) I started to ask the question; what was the largest size of BW field uniforms made?

    If you have any in your collections, would you please share...

    Danke,

    Timo

    Looks like the BW changed their size chart since 1967 because there is no such thing as a BW 24 and a regular German sized 24 is a Medium.

    More recent sizing (not sure when it went into effect) maximums are:

    11 = XXL Regular
    5 = XL Short
    16 = XXL Long

    The same sizing is used for both jacket and trousers.

      Hello Timo !

      Your question is hard to answer ...as Steve states there is a sizing system, but a system is always a theory. There would be a "naming" for more or less all possible sizes, the question is if they were really manufactured! So for sure your trouser is a quite rare example of a regular made big size - but no idea if there were even bigger! To answer this someone had to go through the contract files on which the regular stuff was ordered through all the years. If this was possible (I think most of these contracts where already disposed...) it would be a hell lot of work ...
      Beside that guys with irregular measures became a custom made uniform ... I own a jacket for a guy who - depending on the length of the sleeves must have been over 2 m high which has no lable at all...

      Regards,

      Jens

        x2 - We had such a guy in basic training.
        They had to make him a parka out of two.
        That bugger was that big.

          Heh... funny!

          I had some Polizei friends visiting several years ago. They brought various things for me and one of them was a "wind breaker" for bicycle police. I put it on and I felt like a child inside a father's jacket! They laughed I forget exactly, but I think it was Size 64! I told them what name was written on the label and they laughed even more because they know him well. I asked what he looks like and they said "Arnold Schwarzenegger"

          Oh, and I also have a Polizei Schirmmütze that is Size 65. Let me say that again... Size 65! This is a Polizeioffizeier I would not like make angry!

            A friend of mine is a very huge 195cm/130 kg man.
            He got special tailored uniforms with his name on the labels.

            So There would be a lot different uniforms outside the norm.
