    BGS Cartouche

    Hello,

I've lurked around this site for awhile but nver posted before. Being a gun collector (FAL's particluarly) I spend more time on those Boards.

Recently a stash of BGS FAL's have been sold off as parts kits by APEX Gun Parts. A number of these rifles sport BGS eagle stamps on the underside of the stock's wrist area. In some cases the eagle has been intentionally removed (you see an indentation where it was). The stamp has lettering underneath it but I cannot make out what the letters are. Anybody here have any idea ? I've pasted photos below and, additionally, a photo of Bundeswehr silverware which I have that looks very similar.

    Morrisey,

While the marks are unclear, the most logical ones would be BMvG which is the shortened title of the Bundesministerium Vertiedigung. Since the early BW was formed from approximately 60 % of the BGS, and they took their weapons with them, it would seem a logical stamp to find on a G1.

    Regards,

    Gordon
