I know him, nice guy. I met him last Kassel show where He bought Truppenversuch from me. Gordon, that was the book I was talking about early this year.

        Gentlemen,

Thanks for the notification that this long awaited book has finally gone to print. There doesn't seem to be any web page for it or any book dealers advertising its release. If anyone finds a link to a page, book dealer that has info on it please post it here.

        Regards,

        Gordon

              Gentlemen,

Speaking of books on the BRD, there appears to be a series of books in print on Polizie that starts from the earliest times of policing in Germany and comes up to the the present time. Or at least until the date the book was published. One three volume set is just on the Feldjaeger. Has anyone seen any the books shown on the author's web site, or have a copy of any of them, that they could give us a review of? The url of the page for the author is below.

              Regards,

              Gordon

                  Gentlemen,

Well I have just preordered the book Hoover mentioned from Zinnfiguren. Save myself euros 10.00 that way. Should help towards the cost of shipping the book. The write up about the book on the Zinnfiguren site is very interesting. If it lives up to their write up it will be a really great book.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

I received my copy of this book yesterday!

Its as heavy as expected ... and for sure a must have for all BW collectors. On the other hand its a bit chaotic. Its a wild mixture of pictures and small descriptions and its sometimes difficult to decide if its just the text for a picture or a text on a kind of equipment in general... also the pictures could be a bit more stylish...
As its on all kind of equipment for a Heer soldier you`ll find everything from dress uniform to underwear...and they included a chapter on the different trials for camo shemes. But they left out a detailed documentation on the different versions of some items ...

...so there is a lot left to be written in another book !

                    Regards,

                    Jens

                      Jens,

Some good points here. A member of the forum has a copy and there is room for another book. On the down side, you would think someone who put a lot of time into a book could organize it well and get the descriptions properly done. Sounds as though those of us with limited to no knowledge of German may struggle with this book.

                      Regards,

                      Gordon

I ordered my copy yesterday. I am highly thrilled...

And of course there are enough items left for the next book.

For euqipment alone you can write 5 books.

The book is very valuable for those starting with a BW collection .... then you can use it as order- catalogue ... but for nerds like us there are to many details left out. For example the soft G3 ammo puche is only represented with one little picture and the remark "used from the early 60ies on ..." but we already know of the at least 5 variations of this pouch...

                          Regards,

                          Jens

5 variants?? ... 3 are in my mind. What are the other 2?

... the first pouches produced between 1959 and mid 1960 are known in at least 3 sub-versions which differ in the number / placement of the rivets ...
