Looking to put together a uniform - Help?

    Hi,

I've been putting some thought into putting together a West German hauptmann's uniform to contrast with my East German hauptmann's uniform.

I'd pretty much just like to maybe put together something along the lines of a panzer/infantry hauptmann, and I'd really like to have an iron cross somewhere on it.

Things I could mostly use help with is if anyone's interested in selling a tunic/pants or any other pieces

    Thanks in advance

I'm in Storage on the weekend and look for some tunics. I think I have some Hauptmann left. For sure I know a LW from the General Staff but I must have some Army too. EK I can get for you, a friend has some.

      Thanks!

Do you know how much it'd cost?

        Sanderman,

It would very rare to find an Iron Cross on a Bundeswher uniform. It was done but usually just for a photo shoot. The ribbons were more commonly worn by ex Wehrmacht members serving in the BW. If the ribbons were worn it would be more likely to have been on an early tunic with the cuffs on the sleeves such as were worn during TR times. It would be possible for them to be worn on a later uniform but if you are going for accuracy then you need to make sure that you have got it right. If an EK were worn, then there would have been thread loops on the left breast pocket in the same colour thread as the uniform material.

        Regards,

        Gordon

          Gordon,

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll just have to get myself a Wehrmacht uniform so I can finally have one of those splendid crosses

Nico, a really nice tunic ! It would fit perfectly in my collection

@sanderman : The former owner served in the armored reconnaissance troop - he was a "Panzeraufklärer" . This can be seen from the "Goldgelb" (golden-yellow) color of the collar tabs / backing on the shoulderboards.

I need to do my homework.

All this time I've been collecting East Germany, I havn't considered the West might need a representation in my small collection!

The sizes are really confusing, is this tunic small, medium or large?

I know that I have some, but must find them. The Showcase got damaged in the fire, but the Wings survived but in a large moving box with some thousand others. Give me some more day's, then I'll send you a scan again.

That reminds me....Why would wings be on THIS tunic? It's not luftwaffe....
