Can anybody explain the logic of BW suspender buttons?

I've been wondering for some time now if anybody in the BW uses suspenders with their Flecktarn trousers. The buttons are there for this purpose, but does anybody actually use them? Personally, I think someone in the BW procurement office has a brother with a button manufacturing business

I only used the suspenders for the annual 30km force march (Leistungsmarsch).
In common duty I used the belt.

Thanks for the answers!! So there is a reason to keep the suspender buttons on the trousers. I guess my theory about the brother is not correct

I think I can see why wearing suspenders and not a belt is good for a long march. Better ventilation and less chafing, yes?

Yes, the last would be the main reason.

We didn't like the suspenders that much that we even did our 30 km marches
                  with the belts.

I got my suspenders in 1979. They are still mint and unused ...
