Hi all,
Here are some items that are, for whatever reason, very hard to find. Or at least that was the case for me I got most of these items from a former BGS guy who was also a collector.
First up is a 1963 BGS dated field jacket. This is nearly identical to the camouflage jacket that I refer to as the 2nd Model (caped shoulders, no arm pocket). The BUNDESGRENZSCHUTZ arc is incorrect for this time period, however the shield badge is the correct type (machine woven badge attached to gray HBT cloth). My suspicion is this jacket was used years later when the arc was introduced and so was retrofitted.
Next is the matching 1963 BGS dated field trousers. They are nearly identical to the camouflage type produced starting in 1958.
A recent addition to my collection is this 1964 BGS dated parka. It is very similar to the camouflage parka that would replace it in 1967, though distinct in many ways. It is not designed to have a button in liner and it lacks the arm pocket on the left arm. I don't know what was used for a liner as this is the only example I've seen. Note there was never a BUNDESGRENZSCHUTZ arc on this parka.
Here is a set of 1965 trousers. I'm not 100% sure these are BGS because there is no stamping in them at all. Just a size tag in the rear. I have two of these and neither are marked, nor were they ever marked. The color, however, is consistent with these other BGS items. There is an integrated belt, a vertical pocket on the right side only (just behind the hand pocket), and squared off trouser pockets. If anybody can confirm or denny the assumption this is BGS, that would be great.
And lastly, very nice wool trousers dated 1968. No indication they are BGS, however the color is consistent with the other items. Since the BGS didn't have camo trousers during this period I'm assuming this was used along with the camouflage parka in winter time.
Questions and comments appreciated, as always.
