West German Chaplains - Did they have cap insignia?

Did the Chaplains in the West German Army wear any special insignia (like a Cross) on their caps?

Come to think of it, did the West German Military have Chaplains?

Yes, militarseelsorge. They use a shoulder rank with cross on it. I'll see if I can locate a photo.

Polizei use the same style, shoulder rank with cross.

I just saw an article that apparently the Bundeswehr has been criticized because they have no chaplains for the 1000 Muslim and 200 Jewish members they have serving.....

In response to your original question about the hat. I have seen one hat, which was an overseas style, piped in purple. If memory serves me correctly there was an insignia above the federal cockade, beyond that I am at a loss.

Gentlemen,

There is no provision for the wear of a cross on either the protestant minister or catholic priests hats. Purple is the colour for them and that shows clearly in the picture of the red cross type armband pictured above. There is a metal cross for them to wear on a chain on their chest but I am not sure if is worn by both the protestant and catholic clergy as there is an effigy of Jesus in the centre which is not normally used by protestant clergy. In additon to the shoulder board slip ons above there is also one in purple for wear on the robe.
