I found if you tucked in the flaps of the M1 helmet cover then draped it over BRD pot attaching it via the wire mesh cover's big clips to the rim of the helmet.

Team - I came across this old picture recently that offers a good comparison of the Amoebatarn, Splittertarn, and U.S. Woodland camouflage helmet covers.

Team - Here we see that the individual on the right has camouflaged his helmet with DPM pattern material as used by the UK and The Netherlands.
