I'm glad I can say I've never been there so it wasn't me.
I've seen these offered as second world war.
it fits nice in my tool collection anyway.
    and in my bakelite collection.
and in the post war german section.

there is a large luftwaffe eagle between the letters however but there must be a connection.
here is an example of the very first generation plastic schutzhelm.
I've always been told they are pretty rare, correct me if thats not the case.
      no markings,only for the size;56.
I assume it's material is duraplast where also the trabant was made of.
      Kees,

This looks like the standard DDR Feuerwehr/katastrophenschutz helmet to me. Yours looks to have been unissued. Mine is a darksilver/grey colour but exactly the same style as yours and has seen a lot of use. About 10 years ago there were a lot of these helmets for sale but you don't see them as often now. Mostly the TR Luftschutz style helmets are seen for sale now.

      Regards,

      Gordon

        Kees,

        I've done some more looking through my reference books and this is indeed a DDR helm but it was not common. In his book "Vom Metallhelm zum Kunststollhelm volume III" Ludwig Baer says this about the helmet you posted pictures of;

"Erprobungsmuster, daß sich wegen geringer Festigkeit nicht bewährt hat und zurückgezogen wurde."

"Test sample that because of small firmness did not work satisfactorily and was not used." Which is why you have been told it is a rare helmet, which it is, and that also indicates why it looks new and unused. That also accounts for the lack of markings inside the helmet or on the liner.
A very nice helmet to have in your collection. This design is more commonly seen in wear by Feuerwehr.
Nico is also correct about the DDR Luftschutz helmets being used in West Germany.

        Regards,

        Gordon

          thanks for the information gordon.
with this knowledge the helmet just has been upgraded to a more prominent display, wich basicly comes down to moving it from the shed to the attic entering the collection of good stuff.
sadly I can't find a decent thread about post war west german feuerwehr.
there was one started but died very soon after.
          perhaps not popular enough.
          anyway,all the best.

Here are a couple of the tan Anoraks that I got in a deal a few weeks back. I really did not know what they were or how old they were until now. THW is not an area that I collect or familiar with. I just figured they were early from the color and markings. One has the original triangle insignia on the sleeve and the other has been removed but the thread tracks are still there. Both are the same size and made in the same place. The darker green one needs to be cleaned it has mud on it.

Here is a photo of the markings inside of both. I also took a photo of one compared to my BGS Anorak. They are very similiar in style and material. The differences were buttons, and zipper. Almost everything else was the same down to the button holes on the hoods and the button on the back of the hood. From the stamp inside the date looks like II/60.

                GREENEDUDLEY,

Nice catch on these two anoraks. Good comparison to the BGS anorak as well. Thanks for adding these great photos to the thread.

I will probably get rid of one. I can not afford starting to collect another subject area like THW. My collection that I have is already over running the house.

                    GREENEDUDLEY,

Heh... same thing with me! I let my BW collecting spill over to BGS, then BGS to Polizei. From there I slid into THW, ZB, and Zoll. I decided I need to trim back since everything non-camouflage is outside of my normal collecting interests. The last item I bought in that category, before calling it quits, was the gray anorak used by THW when they switched colors from Khaki to grey. Which reminds me I need to find a home for it and some other stuff.

Nice, very rare finds that I'm sure someone will appreciate taking off your hands.

                    Steve

                          Hey folks,

Great, because of this thread I found my way into the forum.

                          This one here:

isn't really a "Rucksack". It was called "Tragesatz" and used to carry the recovery tools for the "Bergungsdienst" or THW. There were three different types of Tragesaetze: Type A for Gruppenfuehrer and Truppfuehrer, Type B and Type C. If you are interested I can add the tools, which were carried in those Tragesaetzen.

By the way: The grey bag shown here is only marked with "BUND", so I would say it is manufactured in the 1970s. The earliest Tragesaetze were marked "Bund ZB" and colored in khakigrey, later ones were grey, but marked "BUND ZS".

                          Kind regards Simon

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your comments on the Tragesatz. I would very much like ti see pictures of the tools carried in side it.

Simon, welcome to the WAF and I would like to see those tools as well.
just recently I came across the earlier kahki type tragesatz you mentioned.
inside was a breadbag of the type already in this thread, however this is unused and still has the light brown leather straps.
