    Naval Infantry Badge?

Does anyone have an image of the naval infantry badge for the beret? I think it has crossed rifles over an anchor, but not sure.

    John - As requested.

In German they are referred to as "Marinesicherungstruppe". Whether they are true Naval Infantry, or 'Marines' as we understand the term, is unclear to me.

I do remember running into a couple of these guys at Camp Able Sentry in Macedonia in 2002. They were pretty rugged looking characters. If I recall correctly, they wore this badge on a plum colored beret and were clad in flecktarn camo with full battle rattle.

    Can anybody add more info?

    Thanks - TJ

A rear view of the badge made by my favorite German manufacturer, good ole "Assman".

Much appreciated TJ. FYI, this badge has been converted over the years into a fake TR award which is why I wanted to confirm how the badge began its life.

I had been told that it was worn on a beret.

        Nice images and thanks,

        John

            Gentlemen,

To expand a bit on what has already been said, this is the Marinesicherungstruppe for an enlisted man. It is the second type issued. Earlier beret badges did not have the national colours at the bottom. As far as I know, Marinesicherungstruppe are employed in the same roll as the Luftwaffesicherungstruppe and are not Marines or naval landing forces as we understand them. There are boarding parties who are specially trained and equipped for this role.
Here is a picture of an enlisted man's beret.

                  Gentlemen,

I need to make a correction to one of my earlier posts. These cap badges were never produced without the national flag at the bottom. Some other were but not this badge.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon
