will this fit the M1 style German helmet? like the M60

or is it for some other type of helmet?

I would say the Desert camo was introduced after the use of the M1, so it must be for the Aramid - Helmet. Ask the seller if there is a G or S stamped in the liner, next to the size. S - Stahlhelm, G - Gefechtshelm

P.S.: if its only Desert it's the older type of cover. The new ones come in reversible Desert / Woodland.
