    Polizei jacket

    Hello gentlemen,

A friend of mine lent me this polizei jacket for a while. I want to purchase it from him, but I don´t know how much should I pay for it, nor which lander police it belongs to. I´m not into BRD militaria, but it would be a nice jacket to wear, I think.

    Thanks,

    Esteban

Modern Landespolizei tunic for Niedersachsen with rank of Polizeihauptmeister. These were worn 1976-2006, recently phased out (Niedersachsen is one of few Bundesländer to finish replacement with blue uniforms). His appears to be dated 1977. Very common, worth probably USD10-15.

This is first one I have seen with embroidered sleeve patch. Most are with woven patch. Maybe earliest issued ones had these?

    regards
    Klaus

Thank you for the information, Klaus.

My friend actually offered it to me for USD 45! and it has two buttons missing. Guess I´ll make him get his feet on the ground then.

        Hi gentlemen,

My friend asked for more inputs on this jacket as he has grown curious about his jacket when he knew he´s gonna lose it. Is there any other relevant information on this jacket that might be useful to know?

Well, what I said earlier is almost everything. What exactly does he want to know about it? Looking at photos, embroidered patch is not just early jackets. The woven patch is for shirts.

Some backround: It was part of universal 1976 Landespolizei uniform (all states wore different styles before then) with beige trousers and khaki (officially "bambusfarben") shirts with green tie and green peaked cap with white top for motorised police (police in cars, etc.). I have never seen this actually jacket worn on duty, normal shirt or weather-proof jacket/parka. More like service uniform jacket, possibly worn on patrol during earlier years of use. All German Bundesländer except Bavaria and Saarland are process to change to blue uniforms (Niedersachsen has already), so your friend's Niedersachsen jacket is now obsolete.

          regards
          Klaus
