Picked this one up in Rostock at the former East German Naval Marine Base there. It was under Bundeswehr control when acquired.
This one is gold and as evidenced by the color of the cord, is Naval Marine Infantry and not the more common Bundeswehr Army variety.
The requirement for the gold was expert with all three weapons - pistol; rifle and machinegun.Michael D. GALLAGHER

that is not the "Leistungsabzeichen", it is the "Schützenschnur" for the Marine.

Michael - Sharp looking badge; nice shade of blue on the cord.
It's good to get a contrasting look between the Leistungsabzeichen eagle and that on the Schuetzenschnur.
Did you compete for either badge during your time in Berlin?
