    Kees,

    Nico beat me to it. I also found it listed as Staubschutz-Kapuze under 8415-12-130-2103. When I first saw it I thought of an artillery man's piece of protective gear but that would not work in this type of material. The marine heavy weapons guys would wear a similar shaped piece of protective gear but usually in asbestos or some other flame proof material. A most interesting hood.

    Regards,

    Gordon

      Thank you gordon.
      It's really a sort of item that I would expect a truppen versuch text on the label.
      Have a great easter weekend and all the best,
      Kees.

        Kees,

        This hood was discussed on the multiboard without any real answers. Jens took part in that thread so perhaps he can add more information. Here are some pictures from the thread on the multiboard.
        And a Happy Easter to you and all of the other members of the forum.

        Regards,

        Gordon

          The next photo shows the hood being worn in an open car. I do not know if this is an actual military picture or one just showing how the hood may have been worn.

            Someone asking for me ??

            Gordon, the last picture is from a private meeting ... its an ex. ZB Borgward B2000.

            To my knowledge this hood is a protective hood for those guys having to stand in the open ring-lafette on the trucks when manning the AA-machine gun to potect them from dust. It should be worn under the helmet therefore it is so thight fiting...

                Interesting!!! Thanks to both Gordon and Jens for bringing us full circle.

                I imagine this isn't a very common piece to find? I know I haven't seen one before and I don't recall seeing it in Schuster or Kunstwadl's books (but maybe it is in there... lots of information in both!).

                  I've tried every possible way filling the numbers in at the DLA website here;
                  http://www.logisticsinformationservi...ub_search.aspx
                  but no results.
                  Even filled in "hood",but with close to 1200 results without pictures,no good either.

                  really Easy, I typed in the NSN at Mrs. G. and then there were 3 Results shown on ISO-Group.

                    Thank you gentlemen for your contributions.
                    Much appreciated.
                    AA machinegun gunners hood certainly is a denomination that makes the item a lot more attractive then just a plain anti dust hood.
                    Glad I brought it.
                    Nico;
                    I googelt for your Mrs. G. website,but no luck.
                    Unless there's a NSN search function I missed at Mrs G. Chinese food take away website,wich I did found.
                    Can you please post a link ?
                    All the best,
                    Kees

                      Mrs. G. is a pseudo for Google.

                          Grrr,
                          now I have to go out again. You made me hungry.
                          The Bad thing on these Links is that they only show the description, but no details, but at least there is an evidence on an existing Item / NSN.
