That is really, really strange, but it's unquestionably NVA issue, right down to the pigskin flap liner. I've handled dozens of them as a militaria dealer over the years. It's also unquestionably marked the the W.Berlin Police...

Here are few early Berlin Bepo photos in my collection, that fit with the latest discussion here. I try to focus on BGS, but the photos were good price and show an interesting motive and lighter side of Bepo life. The men appear to try to feed young crow (probably pet or unit mascot) and the let drink from canteen, which it not seem to enjoy and so splash them with water! The bottom photo came with the series and appear at least one of the men shortly after WW2 with other prisoners, DRK nurse and American soldier. So they are also WH veterans...
I assume, that they are from West-Berlin, because they wear the green drillich coveralls with dish buttons, that Berlin Bepo units wore as work and field uniform until adoption of the Einsatzanzug in 1960s. I have only seen the green coveralls once for sale. I assume the blue coveralls were only work uniform and not for field. Caps appear to be blue wool version. Unfortunately no dates, but probably mid-1950s.

Note that this book was put out by the Berlin Senate. Here by Der Senator fur Sicherheit und Ordnung. Other books listed are marked from Der Senator fur Inneres. Since West Berlin was not officially part of the BRD the polizei came under the control of the Berlin Senate unlike the states of the BRD who usually came under the control of the Ministry of the Interior.Last edited by Gordon Craig; 11-12-2014, 02:51 PM.
