I wonder if u guys had any pic of this particular cap??
The olive green moleskin fieldcap is shown in post #6.

Guardian5 posted an image of a green field cap with officer piping at the crown but I've never seen this cap used by the Bundeswehr. I have seen very similar caps used by the Polizei. However, I'm not an expert on the Bundeswehr.

I posted this in another thread recently but here it is again for comparison to BW and other BRD M43 caps. Enlisted man's/NCO's BGS Feldmütze in my collection, c. 1950s. Green crown piping is for BGS and Polizei in general, not specifically Offiziere. Interesting that it seems to be link between WH and BW M43-style Feldmützen. To add to the confusion, there is even BGS Bergmütze with Edelweiß badge and sewn-down flaps. I have yet to buy that model.

        regards,
        Klaus

I've not seen a BW cap like the one shown in post #4. However, I've seen many Polizei caps -- similar to that in post#10 -- including several with officer piping at the crown. I think we'll need to hear from Gordon when he gets back to Hungary.

The olive green moleskin M-43 style caps (seen in post #6) have been in use for a very long time. My earliest example is dated 1956 and my most recent from the 1980s. I've never seen an officer-piped field cap other than the woolen Dienstmutze worn with a field uniform.

              Gentlemen,

I'm back in Budapest and ready to take part again! First off, Happy New Year to you all. Saw lots of people with masks, brightly coloured wigs and fireworks off to celebrate the New Year on our way home.
Now on to M43 style green caps. Not used by the BW but they were used by Police, BGS, Forestry and Customs.
              Klaus,
If you have a picture of the BGS Bergmtze in wear showing the eidelweiss I would really like to see it. I've never seen BGS mountain troops but it makes sense that they would have them. I know they have ski troops but have not seen them wearing an eidelweiss.

              Regards,

              Gordon

Here is another photo of the light coloured M43 style cap in wear by a Mountain Troop General in KFOR.

                Regards,

                Gordon

ps-I just noticed that both officers are wearing a light coloured hat while the enlisted man in the background appears to be wearing the standard issue darker coloured cap.

                  Gordon:
There was one for sale on ebay.de a few weeks ago - not sure if it was put together or not. I thought it is possible since TR Zollgrenzschutz had mountain troops (and the Edelweiß). However Stephan sells some "BGS Bergmützen" and one has very large buttons. Unfortunately he does not show side of cap. I know many German dealers tend to call all M43 caps that name but this one is odd:

btw the Gebirgsjäger in backround of above photo is actually also wearing light grey cap if you look closely - the building shadows make it look darker.

                  regards,
                  Klaus

                    Klaus,

I have bought several BGS caps from Stephan. His prices were high but the caps were all unissued and in superb condition. I didn't see the cap with the eidelweiss last week. Missed it some how. The cap with the big buttons can not be real the way it is. Those must be tunic buttons. Not logical to have buttons that big on a cap like the one pictured. Thanks for the picture.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon

Could just be the fabric difference between the officer cap and the enlisted model. Also, as mentioned, lighting.
