Any ideas on what this piece was awarded for and how much it would be worth?

This is the Einsatzmedaille der Bundeswehr (Bundeswehr Operations Medal) awarded today after 30 days of service with any of the peacekeeping forces. This one is for the IFOR (Integration Force) of Bosnia. There are a lot more clasps like "SFOR", "ISAF", "KFOR" etc.
This is the only Federal German Award which can be awarded posthumously and after being wounded in duty before completing the 30 days.

a stupid question: if it was for service in the SFOR why does it have a clasp with IFOR?

First they got the SFOR as Stabilisation Force and after this operation ended they made a new one called IFOR as Integration Force in Bosnia. Btw these are all other clasps which were authorized for that medal:

AFOR, ALLIED FORCE, ALLIED HARVEST, E.FREEDOM, FOX, IFOR, INTERFET, ISAF, KFOR, KVM, OSZE1, OSZE2, OSZE3, SFOR, SHARP GUARD, UNMAC, UNHCR, UNOMIG, UNPF, UNSCOM

IFOR was before SFOR. IFOR is the Implementation Force, for the implmentation of the Dayton Peace Accords. Bill Clinton promised that IFOR would only be for one year, so they just changed the name of the mission. Depends on what the meaning of "is" is, I guess.
