Hi Robb,
I seem to remember a similar item on ebay a while ago. It was described as an RAF folding machete to cut parachute lines if a pilot bailed out and landed in a tree. But I'm not sure it is true. Whatever it is, it's VERY nice!

Hi Robb,

That's a German hunting knife from around 1900, give or take. It would have had a leather sheath that would have held the knife (the knife being folded when it was in the sheath). It looks like the grips are made of horn.
