    Webbing I.D.

Picked up a mint unissued piece of webbing, I don't know what it's for.
All help would be greatly appreciated.

Not much help, but the fibre 'tag' on the strap looks like the leather protectors worn on spur straps by WWI mounted units, to protect their boots from getting marred by the strap working up and down.

So, whatever this strap was wrapped around / worn on, the fibre rectangle was positioned over ... something important/fragile.

As I say, not a lot of help but...

It is one of the various straps used to secure tools and equipment on a number of Vehicles and Guns. The fibre part is used to protect the webbing, and prevent the strap from falling out of place. You may find images of them in use on the 25 pdr Field Gun.
