Help with British Lion crest flag

I just picked up this British lion crest flag. I honestly have no idea what it represents but I just loved the look of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Looks great! Impressive
    I’m not sure but a guess it’s a victory flag from WW1 ?

    Kind regards Chay

      Hello J.M.C.:
Flag has red lion shield of Scotland, Royal
Standard, white ensign (UK RN), red ensign
(UK Merchant), & blue ensign (UK Yacht), &
      a Queen's Crown (c.1952) above. As such
IMO likely a patriotic banner commemorating
a sailors Scotland located service time.

Interesting I’m still going for WW1 victory flag,

More specific Scottish war effort ship building etc,
It just looks very WW1 in style and Not 1950s
          Kind regards Chay

It does not look like an English crown, and only two lions on the standard.

The crown looks like the Scottish royal crown, there is no RAF ensign so this flag could be dated to pre 1921. The army of course is represented by the Union Jack. Obviously a strong Scottish connection.

might not be military at all, the crown is the guelphic crown associated with prince albert

Maybe a foreign made (french?) Civil Victory Item from WWI?
                      Might explain the mistakes.

there were lots of these types of printed flags produced for various "events" during the late victorian period and the boer war, a lovely item but you might never get a definitive answer on what it was for

                          1) I agree that the style is classic early 20th century - Boer War to WWI period. 2) Also agree that it's probably not military and the style of crown may or may not be of significance. Not everybody who manufactured patriotic paraphernalia was a herald. Or cared all that much about such details, as long as the stuff sold!

Lovely example of the sort, though.

Thanks Bond. I have a feeling that your right. It's strange enough to remain a mystery.

I really like the lion with the less than enthusiastic look on it's face though. He is a real bad ass.
