GSM Palestine 1945 - 48 Unit (Abbreviation).

A recent aquisition on the e-tables, named to:
AS.8146 SJT. C. RAM AN AM ANE. A.P.C.
At least, I think that the name is broken down into parts, it may be all the one word.
My questions are - "APC", is this African Pioneer Corps? Army Provost Corps? Auxhiliary Police Corps?
And what would the AS prefix mean, Acting Sergeant? Assistant Superintendent?
Any suggestions welcomed.

Not them - they became "Royal" in 1920 (hence their soubriquet of "Rape & Pillage Corps").
