Need Help

Can someone please explain what this ribbon is and what it stands for. I picked this up at the local flea market today for a reasonable price and have looked it up in a book I have but unfortunately this discription is short and very poor.

On the left is the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal (WWII) the silver maple leaf indicates the issue of the bar for "overseas service" (usually UK, or any theatre of war, however, Newfoundland also counted at this time.

The second medal is the Efficiency Medal. The rosette indicates a second clasp to the medal, which is for long service in the militia/reserves.
