    1897 Ptn Sword, Officers

    Hi Guys ,

Not really my field, more into firearms type of thing.

A sword has come into my keeping. Appears to be 1897 Ptn, Hilt is marked with GRV. Leather field scabbard and frog.

I can only find info on the EFD marked cavalry blade.

The one I have is marked with old style broad arrow and EFD.

Spine is marked /99 or /66

2 No Crown 30 E proofs. Would appear to have a number or date but not too legible.

The blade has no etched patterns at all, totally plain. Would anyone be able to confirm Enfield made officer swords at all ?, and if possible some guidance to websites for recommended reading??
Item is at work at the mo but will try to get pic's uploaded for reference.

Many thanks for any assistance you can give,

    Regards
    Tim
