Its similar to the old railways guards clocks in England. The guard would put the time from the HQ in London on his guards clock which was then locked and he would travel up the line and show the station masters the correct time and they would adjust their clocks accordingly. A bit like this one of mine only more modern ( 1930'S ) RobGod please take justin bieber and gave us dio back

Not Navy related at all. A prewar Omgea which is nice a watch clock of some form as ROBB says.
A marine chronometer whould never be attackh to a bulkead they were always isolated in thier own little box.
Funny thing is one of the higests priorty of the lend lease agreement was chronometers. The British stocks of foreign clocks and part dired and up very quickly and domestic prodution was minimal at best. For most of the war they relied on US clocks.
