There are some significant difference between originals (like this one) and the repros.

The sheaths are one give away, type of leather etc, but in regards to the daggers themselves the profile of the grip area is also different. The copies tend to have a much flatter/ablong section.

Paul's piece are clearly marked and are sold as reproductions. Other repros include those marked by HG Long whose pieces were sold through Ek and the American Historical Foundation.

The fakes are usually unmarked and if a piece is marked and sold to you as original you are being scammed.

There is of course a fine line between repros and fakes.
