A quick search on Wikipedia shows that the S Lancs Regt absorbed the 9 Lancs Rifle Volunteers & the 21 Lancs Volunteers in 1881 and was renamed the Prince of Wales Volunteers (S Lancs Regt); the regiment comprising of both regular and part time (later TA) battalions, as is still the norm.
It subsequently did indeed deploy TA battalions to France during WW1.
However, the shoulder title appears to have been, 'S Lancashire', and I can't find any images showing a white lanyard being worn !
All Volunteers, Yeomanry and militia were absorbed into the TA by the Territorial and Reserve Forces Act 1907.
