Hello! I've been looking at this badge for the HMS Royal Sovereign - a Revenge-class battleship that served in WW1 and WW2. She most famously was transferred to the Soviets and served a spin with them before being returned for scrapping.
Attached are pictures of the plaque in question. I put them as links due to their massive size:

Now my question is ascertaining whether this plaque was made during the era (WW1, interwar, or WW2) or a post-war / modern reproduction? I would love to ere that it is a period-era badge, but I'm not sure.
It could be period-era because...
-The HMS Royal Sovereign is not a famous boat like the Warspite or the King George V-class battleships.
-The battleship was the last ship thus far named HMS Royal Sovereign.
-If you notice the badge, it is chipped and slightly worn out - something that could indicate age.
That being said, I have some doubts because...
-There is no maker's mark on the back of the badge.
-I personally can't tell the difference between modern and older plaques. The Royal Navy still uses plaques after all.

With this in mind, I would like to ask the community a two-fold question:
-Is this badge from the period or a post-war / modern creation?
-If its a period piece, what would this badge have been created for? I've seen badges used on the ships in question, given as souvenirs, and handed to officers as gifts.
Thanks!
