the wire bullion insignia often seen on Polish forces in Italy , was this a ` throw back ` to pre 1939 polish army style or just some thing the Italians had always done and the poles thought it looked smart ? were the Italians making wire insignia for the germans before the invasion / i would love to have any help on this ,Michael

                    Bd

The BD looks to be either an American or Canadian ... which would fit nicely ..
..Is there a production label / stamp inside it ?

                      Spectacular Lot!!!

                      Hello,

Beautiful lot of items and stuff that would be very happy in my home (hint, hint) . In all honesty though I'm not sure which I like more....the BD or the paper. I have a fondness for both!!!

I would also like to see if there are any lables to the inside as I'm almost betting that it's a Canadian made BD.

Should you EVER decide to part with one or the other I would be more than interested.

                      Cheers,
                      Greg

HIYA ,the BD was infact a NEWZEALAND made one that appeared to have been taken apart and re built ,shoulder pads , fancy linings etc,
                        sorry Greg,
but this lot was sold many months back before i came on the forum, i have spent today getting rid off old files on the computor and found this lot , as i needed an answer to a couple of questions on wire badges and Italian made medal bars , i thought i would show the ` full mashing ` ,
now i look at it again ,i really really should not of parted with it , i will never get ( or have the cash ) to buy such a complete lot again
                        regards ,Michael.

                          Still ties in ...

The BD being New Zealand stills ties in ..

Canadian, American, Australian, New Zealand BD's, Trousers, Service dress jackets were all produced of a finer weave, and the Poles "horse-traded" with these allied units because of the better cloth, which were then taylored as their "walking out best" ...

..The old thread on Polish BD's unfortunately "bit the dust" sometime back, ... so I can't give a reference for further detail ...

                            Toothbrushes

The plastic was supposed to have been "liberated" from a toothbrush factory ...
..And as ever, the Poles utilised what was availible ... so Plastic medal bars, divisional patches etc etc .. do appear in a variety of plastic colours ..

                              Pity

                              Hi,

Pity that they've left your posession. I would have loved to have added those gems to my collection.

With regards to the plastic insignia I would doubt that these particular examples are from the Italian factory. All of the factory pieces that I have seen and owned have been a solid color. These appear to have the base color with a clear "plastic" over top of them. Almost and enamel effect. If anyone is interested I can post some of my plastic bits when I get home.

                              Cheers,
                              Greg
