Not a military badge worn on a uniform, but a sweetheart brooch worn by a loved one of the serviceman. It is a General Service Corps badge, with Kings crown so 1910-1953.

It may be possible to date the badge from the maker.

    Enjoy the hobby, Keith

Your broach is of the British Royal Arms used from 1714–1800.

        Looks like a queens crown
        The sterling mark
Is not normally seen on a British
        Made item

1714 until the Act of Union with Ireland in 1801. it's the Royal Arms borne by George I & George II and eventually changed for Geo III, but anyway this coat of arms is still used as the masthead of the Times newspaper, which could explain the modern brooch pin.
