Modified PLCE Belt

While sorting a Bag of Belts, I found this interesting one.
Clearly an old PLCE Belt with added Para Buckle and Straps.
Were these used by Paras, maybe to use it for Rapelling?

We used to put these buckles on our belts as they were easy to use and quick to get off if necessary.
