You're thinking of the yellow lion? - looks like a dragon or wyvern on the lozenge.
Just wondering about the 3rd Monmouths (the TA infantry unit, not the Monmouths RE unit) - their officers cap badge was a dragon rampant (as opposed to the officers & ORs of the 1st, & 2nd, & ORs of the 3rd''s with 3 claws on the ground).
I know that 1st Bn converted to a searchlight unit in 1938, but I can't remember what happened to the 2nd & 3rd.
My best guesses at this stage are:
If a dragon, then one of the Monmouths having converted to RA.
If a wyvern, then a Wessex TA artillery unit.

A Wyvern in golden yellow on a diamond vertically divided red and blue, 255th Medium Regiment Royal Artillery (Wessex) (TA), formed in 1947 and amalgamated in 1956 with a change of title.

It may be possible that the 55th (Wessex) Field Regiment RA (TA) 1938-1946, used the same emblem, but it not recorded. Need to check if the 55th were with the BEF.
