Can anyone confirm that this is a home guard issued piece of kit. I'm guessing this because of the leather frog.

Here is a photo of the green leather scabbard.

It appears to be a Remington made [ie: US manufacture] bayonet for the Model 1917 rifle. The two grooves are, I think, a distinguishing mark to prevent confusion between this and a standard patter '07 LE bayo. The 'wire' fitting on the frog is also typical of US equipment - meant to clip onto the web belt 0- and I assume the green colour is US as well. A ncie piece and very likely one issued to the Home Guard in 1940-41,
