    WW2 Canadian Paratrooper's Wings

    These WW2 Canadian Paratroper's Wings belonged to L/Cpl. John Franklin LeVesconte, a survivor of the Dieppe Raid, who finished the War as an instructor in the 1 Canadian Parachute Training Company in England.

            John,

            He was one of the 65 who returned from the Royal Regiment of Canada.

            Here is his Unit photo of Company C, 1 Bn Royal Regiment of Canada.

            On the reverse of the photo, many of the men are identified with the notation
            "P.W. Dieppe Aug 42" or "K. Dieppe Aug 42" after their name.

            Indicating either a Prisoner of War (P.W.) or Killed (K.).

                Nice wings with a bit of history Ron.

                I encountered the exact same type of wings in a 1 Can Para group I had as well.

                  Very sobering when you see all those faces and only 65 came back, Ron I wonder if your father in law mentioned what they were told prior to the raid, ie the objective.
