Des, very nice and hard to find manual

As you may know my Dad collects manuals and he has had one in his collection for years. We got another last year and found a buyer for it within a very short space of time. We sold it for £100.

Don't know if you'll remember but there was one on eBay last year. Went for about £150 I think?

              Thanks, from Jack.

£150 on ebay? Thats silly money

Why do PIAT manuals sell for so much? I mean you dont find Sten manuals selling for that amount and they could be deemed airborne related by some sellers (Just like a PIAT manual).

                  Yeah, it's funny isn't it?

I think it's because of their very limited print run as well as all the Airborne hype etc. There were only 1150 PIATs produced during the war so not many manuals were ever printed.

Cool manual to have though! Did you find any other gems in that lot?

                  Thanks, from Jack.

The other manuals included 2 inch mortar, 3 inch mortar, .38 inch pistol, bayonet, rifle, bren gun and a few weird ones like Mess Tin Cooking, Army Fire Services, Ammo abbreviations (Actually quite interesting) plus a bunch more.

Mess tin cooking sounds good: any recipes?

Hi Jack, I have never heard of that low production figure before? Where did you get that from?

                      Cheers, Ade.

                        Hi Ade,

                        Yeah there are some recipes

Stewed Fruit, Griddle Cakes, Oatmeal Cakes, Dumplings, Rice Pudding + more. Even tells you how to make a cup of tea

I have put this on ebay but if you want, I will scan the recipe pages and email them to you?

                            Hey Ade,
I heard a great description of a man cocking a PIAT under fire looking like "he was making violent love to a fence post"! Here are a couple pics of my little beastie! I have the 2" mortar bomb adaptor in it right now.
